5 Tips To Get Past Project OVERWHELM

5 Tips To Get Past Project OVERWHELM

Have you been “meaning to make a baby photo book” since your first child was born years ago but you are overwhelmed by how many photos you have, don’t really have a clue where they all are and are not sure where to start?

I promise you are not alone!  I’ve had parents of 40+ “kids” contact me about a photo book project they never got around to.

Today’s blog is all about helping you get past that ikky overwhelming feeling.

We understand what it means to be overwhelmed, you have ‘too much of something’.

Your something in relation to this project could be;

  • Too much fear; that you have forgotten stories
  • Too many physical or digital photos
  • Too many device types
  • Too many decisions to make
  • Too much guilt that you have left it “so long”

Here’s my best advice to tackle that overwhelming feeling;

1.Be kind to yourself

Remember you didn’t amass these photos overnight.  It will take time and even if you have a gift date in mind you can do this!

2. Go on a treasure hunt

List all the places/devices the photos could be.  We have a handy list of suggested “hiding places” you can download below

3. Get everything into one location

Bring them all into one room or one location on your computer so that you can see exactly what you’ve got to start with

4. Come up with a plan

Channel your inner project manager and break your project down into smaller tasks to tackle one at a time.

5. Remember your WHY

Try not to get so caught up in the DOING that you forget WHY you are doing it.  Grab your journal or a note pad and write down WHY you want to create a special memory book for your child.  How will you feel when it is done?

Everyone get’s overwhelmed at some point but we don’t want it to stop you getting your photo book project done.  Especially with the research showing how important it can be for children to have photos in their lives.   This quote from Dr Kenneth Condrell – Child Psychologist and Family Counselor

“Children love to go back and see themselves as babies and toddlers and how important they were to everybody.  It helps develop of memory bank and an identity as a family member”

Remember if you need help we can create a bespoke photo book coaching package tailored to your unique needs and skills.

We will devise a process that we will help you implement for this special project AND ensure that it is repeatable so that you can continue to apply the techniques you have learned to create photo books for many years to come.

Depending on where your photos are now, your skills and unique needs, in 1 to 6 coaching sessions we can;

Help you gather all the photos you need in one place
