31 Aug Vocational Happiness: A Fairy Tale Come True
Our Dream Job
In order to experience happiness and success in the workplace, it is essential that you do something you are good at and that you enjoy. This is precisely the case with our lives as The Filing Fairies! We thought we’d share a little bit of what makes our partnership successful, in case you’re looking for that little extra push to follow your passion.
As two halves of the entrepreneurial organising duo, we both have a passion for organising, delegating, prioritising and implementing logical sequences based on order – and (more importantly) we both love photos of family and friends. Our story was recently featured in the article by Bupa Life Insurance, ‘Dream Creative Jobs and the Australians Doing Them’.
As you know we met working as event managers and quickly recognised a high calibre of organisational talent in one another. After getting acquainted, we discovered that we also shared a deep affinity for the value of photos as visual documentation of the precious stories of human lives.
Pinpointing Exact Talents to Meet Demand
When we realised that we shared two very specific interests, it became apparent that our talent, if combined, could offer considerable value to an untapped market. It is true that almost every family out there has hundreds, if not thousands, of photos of themselves at various stages of their lives. It is also true that very few, if any, of these families have time or the wherewithal to file these photos in an orderly way so that they can be enjoyed sequentially and that specific images can be found and viewed at a moment’s notice. Thus, The Filing Fairies began and so too did a new chapter in our lives as we had discovered exactly how to make a living providing a service that we cherish, all the while improving the lives of our clients.
Vocational Happiness: A Fairy Tale Come True
Working adults who dream of waking up every day eager to get out the door and go do what they love can take a bit of direction from our story. If you long for this to be your reality, it is time to take an honest personal inventory and pinpoint exactly what it is you are good at. Then, you must decide if doing this is something you enjoy. Additionally, this talent of yours needs to translate to a service that will benefit other people. Once you have established your niche skills and put it into focus, you can then understand exactly what you are looking for, whether you should go into business with a partner, and recognise future customers.
Here at The Filing Fairies we’ve built a successful business out of our passion, there’s no reason why you can’t go out there and do the same!
